DOLE issues Labor Advisory No. 08, series of 2021 promoting COVID-19 vaccines in the workplace

The Department of Labor and Employment (“DOLE”) recently issued Labor Advisory No. 08, Series of 2021 (“Promotion of COVID-19 Vaccination in the Workplace”) (“Advisory”). The Advisory applies to all establishments and employers in the private sector and supplements Labor Advisory No. 3, Series of 2021 (“Guidelines on the Administration of COVID-19 Vaccines in the Workplace”). The Advisory provides as follows:

1. All employees in the private sector, except those who are ineligible or disqualified for health reasons, are highly encouraged to get inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine.
2. Employers will continue to urge their employees to avail of their own vaccination program, if any, or their respective local government units.
3. Employers will seek appropriate assistance from concerned government agencies in administering the COVID-19 vaccine.
