Atty. Mary Christine Salome C. Florete is native of Iloilo City for most of her life. She is a litigation lawyer by profession practicing Family and Criminal Law. One of her special interests lies in personal finance particularly investing in the Philippine Stock Market. She grew up in a family of entrepreneurs from both sides of the family. Coming from a business background, she learned the art of ingenuity by gathering Soda bottles in exchange for P2 each to augment her allowance. She also started an online travel agency as a law student which she fondly called “Jet Stream Travel.”
Ever conscious of the demographics of this country, she dreams of the day when OFW-families learn to save and invest in the stock market. She envisions a society where OFW’s are no longer scammed into fly-by-night investments and when these families are protected better by professionally-run businesses.
She is a graduate of St. Paul University Iloilo with a degree Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Management and Bachelor of Laws at University of Iloilo where she graduated and passed the Philippine Bar Exam in the same year.
She occasionally writes a column at the Watchman Daily Journal on legal related issues and used to be a legislative staff of the Honorable City Councilor Love Baronda. She is currently a junior partner at Sombiro, Buyco-Abellar, Delicana, Florete & Liao Law Offices.
She loves books and is in fact addicted to whatever is printed therein. She also loves music, long drives and a little dash of alcohol.
Her idols are Warren Buffet, Margaret Thatcher, and Steve Jobs.
