FLORIDO LARGO & ACUÑA Law Offices was founded in 1930 by former judge Mariano M. Florido, Sr.

Mariano M. Florido, Sr.(dec.)

A graduate of State university and the no. 1 law school in the country, the University of the Philippines, the late Hon. Mariano Florido served as Provincial Fiscal of Cebu prosecuting Second World War crimes cases. 

Before the Second World War he served as Justice of the Peace in southern towns in the Province of Cebu and went on to become Judge of the Court of First Instance. 

Bernardito A. Florido

In 1962, his son Bernardito joined him in the law practice.  Atty. Bernardito A. Florido is a top graduate of the University of San Jose-Recoletos where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1961. He also returned to the same university as a part time law professor and lecturer where he continued to teach for several years.    The younger Florido obtained a near perfect grade of ninety- eight (98%) percent in Remedial Law (Civil and Criminal Procedure, Evidence and Special Proceedings and other Rules of Court) in the Bar Examinations of 1961 where  only 19.14%  of those who took the license exams passed. He later attended the Program of Instruction for Lawyers at Harvard Law School in 1984 and the Academy of American and International Law, Dallas, in 1986.

He was elected President of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1978; President of the Rotary Club of Cebu South in 1979 and President of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Cebu City Chapter in 1981-1983. He went on to become Governor of the IBP for seven (7) provinces in the Eastern Visayas Region of the Philippines for the same period.    Bernardito Florido specializes in all types of litigation, commercial laws, civil law, as well as maritime and admiralty law.

M. Christine Florido-Mitra

In 1993, third-generation of Florido lawyers, Mary Christine Florido-Mitra joined the firm. She graduated with Second Honors and obtained a Silver Medal at Ateneo de Manila University-College of Law where she obtained her Juris Doctor degree. Prior to that, she also graduated with honors at the Ateneo de Manila University where she obtained her degree in B.S. Legal Management. Like her father Atty. Bernardito A. Florido, she  attended the Program of Instruction for Lawyers at Harvard Law School in June 1996.  She also attended the  Private International Law Session at the Hague Academy of International Law at the Hague, Netherlands in July 1996. Christine currently specializes in information technology and commercial laws.

In 2003, the firm’s name was changed to Florido and Largo Law Office upon the promotion of Attorney Joan S. Largo. 

Joan S. Largo

Ms. Largo graduated Class Valedictorian and Magna Cum Laude in Political Science from University of San Carlos, a 500-year old University in the heart of Central Philippines.  She was likewise named as one of the Outstanding Graduates of the said University.  Ms. Largo graduated Cum Laude and Valedictorian of her Law Class in the same university.  In 2000, she passed the Bar Examinations and was at the top 20 of successful examinees where only sixteen (16%) percent of all candidates passed.  At age 28, she was appointed Assistant Law Dean of her Alma Mater’s College of Law, aside from her work as partner engaged in trial and appellate practice.  She is the youngest professor in the College to have occupied the administrative post. 

 Haide P. Acuña

Atty. Haide P. Acuña joined the Firm in 2005.  She was a former associate of Paderanga Iway and Nonato Law Offices in Cebu City and Catindig Tiongco and Nibungco Law Office in Manila, where she obtained extensive exposure on the workings of the corporate world. Ms. Acuña also teaches at St. Theresa’s College and works as newscaster in the daily TV program, TV Patrol Central Visayas. In 2008, the law office was renamed Florido Largo and Acuna Law Office.
